On February 26, 2008 Jinan Economic Figures Promulgation Ceremony was held in Shungeng Hillview Hotel, Jinan. Board chairman, general manager and secretary of the Party Committee from JIER Machine-Tool Group Co., Ltd, Zhang Zhigang was selected as “2008 Jinan Economic Figure”. Secretary of a municipal committee and mayor of Jinan, Zhang Jianguo attended the ceremony to award the prizes.

The selection of 2008 Jinan Economic Figures is based on “Effectiveness, innovation, flexibility and responsibility” standards. First, each organization recommends the candidate and then the list of candidates is announced on Jinan Daily and Shun Internet. Primary selection is made by votes through the internet and messages from the public. Then famous economists, authorized executives and officials formed a committee for evaluation. Ten persons are selected as awardees.
